Last year Caroline had a lean season, but notable for returning to Ford from Subaru. In 2019 she is campaigning the Scottish Rally Championship with her new navigator, Charley Sayer-Payne, in the Complete Cleaning Fiesta R2. The all female crew will also be competing in other selected events.
Caroline started her rallying career in November 2012, competing in two of the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship events before taking the plunge into the forest stages of the Scottish Rally Championship for the 2013 season. Armed with her co-driver, John Duke, and her 2WD Ford Fiesta ST, affectionately known as ‘The Fez’, Caroline finished 2013 with two well-deserved titles – winning her Class to become Class 7 Champion, and also picking up First Lady Driver.
2015 saw Caroline lift the Ladies title once again and finishing the closest of 2nd place in class 7. More importantly she proved herself to be one of the top juniors (under 25) in the country and won an entry into Rally GB Wales where she competed on the same stages as the World Rally Championship teams in November. Under some of the worst conditions for years, Caroline gave a very credible performance over the 3 day event finishing 38th overall.
Motorsport is one of the largest industries in the world with thousands of businesses, global brands and corporations investing in the sport. Rallying in particular is making a comeback, with BT Sport attaining the viewing rights to WRC and BRC events this year. In the SRC, each event regularly draws up to 15000 spectators, including press coverage, with programmes of the championship shown on the BBC and Motors TV.
